China Glaze: Entourage

July 23rd, 2011

Entourage is from the 2009 Custom Kicks Collection. I don’t remember where I was or what I was doing when this collection was released, but I missed out on some beauties. I picked this up a few months back and I’m glad I did. Entourage is lime green with tonal shimmer. This is two coats, no topcoat:

The formula was ok. It was a little on the thick side, as you can probably tell by my application. With some thinner, it should be just fine.

Next on my list is Custom Kicks, the teal polish with gold shimmer from the collection. I’m lemming that one bad!

Happy painting!

Essie: Braziliant

July 22nd, 2011

Apparently I won some sort of contest (I think I entered on Facebook?) because this beauty showed up in my mailbox last month. I finally got a chance to swatch it recently. Essie Braziliant is from the Essie Braziliant collection from this summer. Trust me when I say this color is perfect for the season. They really nailed it.

Braziliant is a bright, vivid orange-red with pink, yes pink shimmer. It’s loud and in your face, and with this on your hands, you will definitely not go unnoticed. This is two coats, no topcoat.

The formula on this was fine; I had no issues. The color is definitely brilliant, so the name totally fits. I’m not a huge fan of red polishes, and with this being orange-red, I was a little apprehensive about this shade. My fears were unfounded though, because I loved this so much. I can’t wait to try it on my toes.

Happy painting!

Pure Ice: Heartbreaker over Pure Ice: Purple Reign

July 20th, 2011

I’ve got nubbens right now, so I’m going to post a swatch I did several weeks back. You may remember my post on Pure Ice Purple Reign…well, I decided to layer Pure Ice Heartbreaker over it. Heartbreaker is a really special polish. It has a sheer turquoise base with loads of turquoise shimmer that changes with the light. It’s stunning and, sadly, only available at Walmart. I’ve wanted it for awhile now and finally found it when we were driving through Alabama.

This is one coat of Heartbreaker over Purple Reign:

As you can see, the depth of Heartbreaker is very impressive. I’m sure this looks even more amazing over darker colors. If you can find this polish, I highly recommend it!

Essence: Forget Me Not

July 10th, 2011

I happened across this polish at Ulta a few months ago. It was in a display for the new (?) Blossoms collection. Forget Me Not is a periwinkle blue with blue microshimmer. Oh, how I wish the shimmer showed up on the nail. :( Anyway, this is two coats, no topcoat:

I love the color but as I said above, the shimmer does not show up on the nail. This is basically just a periwinkle creme. At any rate, the formula was nice. It applied well, especially for a color like this. I love pretty much everything Essence does, so I might be biased, but this is a winner. :)

Happy painting!
